What we handle as an emergency.

Some plumbing can wait for a booked visit. Some cannot. We treat the following as genuine emergencies and respond accordingly, any hour:

The first thing we do is help you stop the damage.

Before we even arrive, the most valuable thing we can do is tell you how to isolate the problem. For water, that is turning off the main stop tap at the meter near your front boundary — it takes ten seconds and stops most burst-pipe flooding instantly. For gas, it is shutting the gas off at the meter or bottle, leaving electrical switches alone, and opening up the house. For an electric hot water leak, it is flicking it off at the meter box. What it costs — honestly.

We are not going to pretend after-hours work is the same price as a Tuesday morning. Standard plumbing labour in Newcastle sits at roughly $90 to $180 an hour. After-hours, weekend and public-holiday emergency call-outs usually add a premium of $100 to $300. Here is the important part: we quote the call-out rate before we leave the depot, and we give you a price for the actual repair once we have seen it. You decide before any work starts. We would rather lose a job to honest pricing than win one and have you feel stung on the invoice.

Why we do not cut corners.

It is tempting, at 2am, to do the quick patch and move on. We do not work that way. A burst pipe gets the cause checked, not just the split capped. A sewer overflow gets a CCTV look so we know whether it is grease, roots or a collapsed line. Gas work gets done strictly to AS/NZS 5601 with a Certificate of Compliance — there is no shortcut on gas that is worth someone’s safety. Doing it properly the first time is cheaper for you than paying twice.
